L’appel EFSA/2026/OP/0009 Metagenomics Adoption in EFSA Risk Assessment (anciennement  Adoption of metagenomics approaches for risk assessment of complex microbial mixtures) vient d’être publié. La deadline est fixée au 12/08/2026 à 14:30 Europe/Rome.

Les spécifications techniques précisent les attendus (objectifs, tâches, livrables) et les expertises ciblées pour ce projet à 1,25m€ :

Objective 1: Harmonised and standardised metagenomics protocols :

  • to develop harmonised and standardised metagenomics protocols for the generation and analysis of metagenomics data from complex microbial mixtures, covering laboratory procedures, sequencing workflows and bioinformatic analysis. Methods shall be developed and optimised using defined, representative complex microbial communities, and validated through testing on samples representative of actual product

Objective 2: Integration into risk assessment

  • to produce recommendations for how metagenomics data can be interpreted and used within EFSA risk assessment workflows

4 experts minimum pour couvrir les expertises suivantes :

  • One expert with at least 5 years of experience in metagenomics laboratory methods,
  • One expert with at least 5 years of experience in metagenomics Bioinformatics
  • One expert with at least 5 years of experience in microbiology
  • One expert with at least 3 years of experience in method standardisation/validation, and/or quality assurance/control for laboratory methods
  • One expert with at least 5 years of experience in microbiological risk assessment or applied microbiological research with regulatory relevance, in the context of food safety or feed safety, or related regulatory science domains, including knowledge of current regulatory frameworks (e.g., EFSA or equivalent regulatory science organisations)
  • One expert acting as project leader with at least 5 years of experience in project management in the area of food/feed safety or related microbiological domain
