Sugars revolutionizing healthinnovation: a spin off story
Abstract: Oligosaccharides are everywhere in nature andpossess a tremendous applicative potential for health, cosmetics, and food. Amongthis huge diversity of structures only few of them are industrially produceddue to a lack of effective industrial processes. In this context, the ToulouseBiotechnology Institute conducted an ambitious project which led to thecreation of the start-up Sweetech in 2021. Sweetech now expands the technology thatunlocks Glycoside Phosphorylases’ potential as industrial bioproduction tools. Thestart-up also upscales the production and target new oligosaccharides forhealth applications.
