Spore Display for the simple microbial production of immobilized proteins

Spore display is a robust technique that leverages bacterial spores as a stable platform for the presentation of functional proteins on their surface. This method utilizes the inherent durability and environmental resilience of bacterial spores, which are resistant to heat, radiation, and chemical degradation, making them ideal carriers for protein display in various applications. By genetically engineering specific proteins onto the spore coat, we can easily can produce immobilized proteins. Spore display cheap, easy and scalable. Furthermore, the simplicity of spore-based expression systems reduces the need for complex purification processes, enhancing the feasibility of producing enzymes, antigens, and therapeutic proteins on an industrial scale. In my talk I will present examples form our previous and ongoing projects around spore display. I will as well touch on some other projects such as automation and synthetic genomic regions.
